What does the Scriptures teach?

Scripture basically teaches what man should believe about God, and what duty God expects from man.

1.  In front of the disciples Jesus showed many more signs of divine power (sign work).  That was not recorded in this text.  But these are written so that they may believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and that by this faith you may live by his name (John 20: 30-31).

2.  O man, he has told you what is good;  So what else does the Lord seek from you, other than fair conduct, unwavering devotion, and humble walking with your God?  (Micah 6: 7).

There are many things that we cannot learn from the Bible.  (1) For example, the Bible does not match the entire history of mankind.  The Bible is not given for this purpose.  So there are many things in history that we can only learn from other sources.  (2) God's Word cannot provide the practical information we need in various sciences.  We do not find any formula of chemistry or principle of electron in the scriptures.  (3) In fact, the Scriptures do not tell us everything we want to know about Jesus Christ.  We do not know much about his childhood, education, or domestic life.  We know nothing about his physical appearance.  The Bible does not teach us.  More examples like this can be mentioned.  Because we were not given the Bible to teach everything.  The Bible is given to teach "what man must believe in God and what duty God expects of man."

An essential element of all true knowledge

Nevertheless, we need to keep in mind that the Bible has something to say about everything.  And the Bible has something to say that is very important.  In fact, it is so important that we do not have a real understanding of anything except what the Bible says.  Let me give you an example.

In Figure 3.1, we find a human image.  He is trying to know the world (and himself) without God.  It is as if a modern scientist, who "believes" that the world came into being by evolution on his own, put God completely away from the very beginning of the study and search for the mysteries of "nature."  The same will apply to those who study history, geography or any other subject.  But the Bible clearly teaches that everything in the world was created.  Everything is related to God, and this relationship with God is the most important thing in everything.  If this relationship is not realized - even the "greatest scientist" cannot really understand the truth at all. In other words, when people start thinking without realizing the true God, they linger in darkness.  In other words, when people begin to think without realizing the true God, they linger in darkness, Because they are in the dark, they cannot see the light of the world. In Figure 3.2, we see a picture of a man who has seen the light of the world. The Bible has given him this light of the world (because he can receive and believe God's Word, so the Holy Spirit makes his heart newly). But notice that we see two things here: first, we see how biblical knowledge (given by the Holy Spirit) has enabled this person to believe in the true and living God.  Secondly, we see how he understands his position in the world. He realizes that this is his father's world, and whatever he does in this world, he must always seek the glory of God. If that person is a scientist, he will study to know more about God's wonderful creation. If he is a historian, he will study the history of mankind in order to know God's revealed purpose.  And it's the same rule in all cases.  By faith alone (what man must believe in God) we can walk honestly (the duty that God expects from man).

Faith and duty

At this point we need to note a few things.  (1) First, we need to note that what we have to believe is the most important question and answer.  This is important.  It is now commonly said that what a Lake believes is not really that important.  Some say, “Everyone has the right to believe in his will.  Others say, "As long as man is sincere and humble, what he believes can be accepted”.

Of course, it is true that no one will be forced to believe what a person wants to believe.  But it is not true that no difference is made by human faith!  Because "he that transgresseth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not found God" (2 John 9).  Jesus said to the woman on the edge of the well,  "You... worship something that you don't know But we know him whom we worship"..... Those who worship him, must worship him in spirit and in truth (John 4:22, 24).  When someone imagines that he can live a right life even with false beliefs, he thinks nothing can be more horrible.  “A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot produce good fruit.” (Matthew 7:18). This is why the words "what do people have to believe about God" are given first place in the question and answer.  (2) Secondly, It should be noted that when a person has true faith (what God commands him to believe, if he really believes it), then he must also obey God's commands. In other words, there is no such thing as true faith without proper practice.  Jacob said, "What good is it if someone says he has faith, but his actions don't reveal it? Can that faith save him?" (2:14) No, Jacob said, “Faith is useless if it is not put into action.  ... as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead ”(2:16, 27). Then we see that if the 'Q&A' did not focus on "what man should believe in God" and "what duty God expects from man" - then we would not get a true picture of the Christian life.  There are issues between us in terms of dead orthodoxy.  This means that Lake proclaims the true doctrines of the Bible.  They take these doctrines to heart in such a way that they are able to discuss or argue about them.  But they do not live the way God wants them to live.  We must see how big a mistake this is, and we must see that the 'question and answer' not only prioritizes faith, but also teaches us that, if not guided by proper practice, then this faith is not a true savior faith!

Why the law is discussed later

Another thing we need to mention.  The Bible says about the law (the Ten Commandments), "The law has guided us to Christ so that we may be justified by faith" (Galatians 3:24).  This means that if a person does not realize his own need in the first place, then he cannot come to true faith through Christ as his Savior.  Or, in other words, the only law that can make a sinner know that he is a sinner.  “For the law alone can bring forth sin" (Romans 3:20).. So a question may be raised, “Why didn't the “question and answer ”first discuss the law and then, the Christian faith necessary for our salvation?” We can answer this question.  , (1) If the 'question and answer' discusses the provision first and then the belief, there will be no mistake.  God Himself gave the law before giving it to the Savior. (2) In the 'question and answer' there is sufficient reason not to discuss the provision in the first place.  What are these factors? (A) Given the first law and Christ in the second place, there was a good chance that Christ would be less important than the law.  This would have been very bad.  Because Christ is greater than anything. (B) Second, the careless reader could imagine that salvation comes through our actions as commanded by the law.  Some may say, "First you keep the law, and then Christ will accept you." This idea would be completely wrong, because the Bible says that no man can ever be saved (by reason) by keeping the law. In fact, no one (except Jesus) God never obeyed the law the way He wanted. (C) Thirdly, the first law, then the second place to faith through Christ, was likely to give rise to the idea that we do not need a divine law after believing in Christ.  Some may say, “Now that I have come to Christ, I don't need a law to tell you how to live".  This would be completely wrong again.  Because we need Christ as our Savior, not only for this purpose, but also to show us how to live for Christ after receiving Christ as our Savior.  Because John says, “To love God means to keep his commandments” (1 John 5: 3).

In conclusion, we would like to emphasize that Christianity, as the doctrine of 'question and answer', and Christianity as life, have firmly refused to choose between the two.  True Christianity is never one but one.  The two will always be together according to the good tree and its fruit.
